Importance of SHG Formation in Rural Development
Self Help Groups (SHGs) are the cornerstone of rural financial inclusion. By pooling
resources and expertise, villagers, especially women, gain the ability to start small
businesses and escape the cycle of high-interest local debt. KGVS has been instrumental in
forming over 1,000 SHGs in Jhunjhunu, providing training in bookkeeping, group dynamics, and
micro-entrepreneurship. These groups not only provide financial support but also serve as a
platform for social change, addressing issues like education, health, and sanitation within
their communities. The collective power of SHGs fosters a sense of solidarity and empowers
individuals to take charge of their own development.
